To Put It Simply….Mag Rocks

If I had to choose one supplement as my favorite, magnesium would be the one!! I first learned about the benefits of Mag around 2004 and I have been taking it ever since!
Magnesium is a co-factor in over 300 enzymatic reactions in the human body and also one of the most common deficiencies! It is necessary for the transmission of nerve impulses, muscular activity, heart function, temperature regulation, detoxification reactions, formation of healthy bones and improving insulin sensitivity. Virtually every body system throughout the body relies on magnesium.
Magnesium comes in many different forms. A common, and cheap form of mag is magnesium oxide. Mag Oxide is a low quality salt with very poor absorption rates. You can quickly spot a low quality multivitamin by the presence of magnesium oxide.
High quality mag supplements on the other hand will always display as a “chelate”. When Mag is chelated it is bound with an amino acid in order to enhance its absorption. These amino acids create various affinities with different tissues enhancing uptake. All of your mag supplements should be connected to a word ending with “ate”.
An example of this would be Magnesium Threonate. Mag Threonate is one of the most absorbable mag and highly benefits the brain. It positively impacts memory, anxiety, and attention span. Magnesium Glycinate on the other hand is mainly involved with liver and muscle health along with promoting a deep sleep. The good news is now days we have awesome products like ubermag that use a blend of several chelates to facilitate replenishment by addressing more tissues simultaneously.
So in a nutshell here are my top 5 reasons why taking magnesium makes you a better human being to be around:
1. Magnesium helps you break down the fight or flight compounds adrenaline and noradrenaline so you’re not so worked up and stressed out all the time.
2. Magnesium helps with bowel regularity. Nobody likes to be backed up!!
3. Magnesium is required to help make serotonin – our neurotransmitter associated with happiness
4. Magnesium helps you relax and get a better night’s rest so you don’t wake up all grouchy in the morning. How you wake up determines how your day is going to go or how you will influence other people’s day.
5. Magnesium helps regulate blood sugar. Low blood sugar makes people ‘hangry’ and encourages poor dietary choices.
So how do you take it?
General Health/Help regulating blood sugar/Maintenance – We would suggest 300-400mg of a blend. (ex. Ubermag 2 caps 2x’s a day)
Trouble winding down/falling asleep – We suggest 300-400mg of Magnesium Glycinate before bed. Comes in pills or powder form. You can also rotate with Ubermag

Not going to the bathroom – We suggest 300-400mg of Magnesium Citrate
